hi, my name is sasha chernenkoff!
I am a bioinformatics M.Sc. student in the
Long lab at the University of
Calgary, whose research focuses on using deep learning for variant interpretation. previously,
I worked as an R&D scientist at PerkinElmer Genomics, where I developed second-tier biochemical
tests for the diagnosis of genetic disease in newborns. Working at PerkinElmer strengthened my
interest in genomics and diganostics! now, I am particularly interested in how machine learning
can improve the diagnostic potential of genome sequencing.
I can generally be found behind my computer screen writing code or
playing games, getting lost in the canadian rockies with my husband and dogs, or designing and
building websites, keyboards, and graphics!
feel free to have a look through my work! I love talking about my
projects, the outdoors, keyboards, or dogs. whether you are looking for a research collaborator
or hiking partner, do not hesitate to reach out!
